Current Cannabis Laws

Grenada passed landmark cannabis legislation in early 2026. The Drug Abuse (Prevention and Control Amendment) Act decriminalizes possession of up to 56 grams (2 ounces) of cannabis and 15 grams of cannabis resin for adults 21 and older. Households can register to grow up to 4 plants for private use.

The law also formally recognizes the constitutional rights of the Rastafari community to use cannabis sacramentally in registered places of worship and at special events, with allowances for cultivation.

Prior minor cannabis convictions are automatically expunged, and pending proceedings for small amounts are discontinued.

For Tourists

Grenada’s decriminalization is generous — 56g is one of the highest thresholds in the Caribbean. Visitors over 21 benefit from the same decriminalization as residents. But there’s no legal retail yet, and public consumption is strictly prohibited.

A regulated medicinal and therapeutic cannabis industry is in development, with strict protocols for cultivation, processing, research, and distribution.
